I live in the UK and like painting water colour pictures as an amateur artist.
I was brought up in Melton Mowbray, In my employment years I worked in Melton, Nottingham, Manchester and Wrexham. Now retired I now live in Oxfordshire.
I met my wife in Manchester and we have two sons and six grandchildren.
Most often I take a photo and then sketch from that before painting. If I have time I will make a quick painting outside but photograph the scene as well so that when I get home I can make a proper job.
I attended a U3A art group in Swindon twice a month which inspired me to keep trying. Alas a brush with cancer and a move to a new village I have let my membership of U3A lapse.
I hope to pick up painting now the move has been settled.
Another inspiration is books by the likes of Terry Harrison which provide step by step guides to painting watercolour pictures. I also like watching Sky Arts portrait and landscape programmes.
